GitHub

Vetoo connects to GitHub through a GitHub App. Install the app once on an organization or an account. Then grant the app the repositories you want Vetoo to review. Vetoo reviews pull requests on those repositories from that point on.

Start the install

Choose GitHub during onboarding, or later from your workspace. Enter the organization or account you want to connect.

Choose repositories on GitHub

GitHub opens its install screen. Grant the app every repository, or grant it a selected list. You can change the list on GitHub at any time.

Return to Vetoo

Your repositories appear in your workspace when the install finishes. Enable auto-review on each repository you want Vetoo to review when a pull request opens. See Managing repositories.

Only a workspace owner or admin can start or remove a GitHub install.

Permissions

The base install lets the app read a pull request's code and post a status check. Comments and two verdicts, request changes and approve, need one more permission. GitHub can ask you to grant that permission separately during the install. Until you grant it, the repository can use only the CHECK_ONLY review mode. Vetoo disables every other mode, including comment.

Private repositories

A private repository works the same way as a public one. Vetoo reads only the repositories you granted on the install screen, and only while the app stays installed. If you remove the app on GitHub, that access ends.

Reviews run after someone sets the pull request author's handle on their Vetoo member profile. A member can set their own handle. An admin can set it for anyone else from the Members page. See Members and roles.
